Think hands free. It’s a common practice is to talk on your cell phone or even read a magazine or book while on the treadmill or other piece of exercise equipment. Sure, it’s nice to have ways to pass the time during exercise, but these habits have been shown to impede the intensity of your workouts. Your calories burned are a function of the duration and the intensity of your workout. If your intensity is less, then you’ll need to up the length of your workouts to compensate. Why not commit to a hands-free workout where you can pump those arms and enjoy a more intense workout!
